Cabanillas de la Sierra from ancient times has been a village with strong farming tradition, which still retains. Its strategic location in glens area zone defined it initially as a pastoral settlement and where cattle rest after their long way of journey especially the herds of Merino sheep. Nowadays, this municipality is still linked to livestock, having many families who engaged in livestock. In addition to the merino sheep, beef cattle are also raised in Cabanillas, mainly crossbred Charolais and Limousin.

There are splendid herds of fighting bull making Cabanillas de la Sierra being one of the municipalities in Madrid with the largest number of cattle bulls. This livestock is one of the best examples of strong commitment to sustainable development, environmental conservation and traditional activities of the neighborhood.
